Coming Soon – Winter ’09

Hello again friends, family and guests. n__n I apologize for abandoning my blog for so long without an explanation. I’ve been the busiest that I have EVER been (so far) these past few months mainly because of school and other priorities. SL pretty much summed it up in the post below hahaha all I have been doing are careplans and study. I need a break!!! Luckily this semester will end in approximately 2 weeks, yay!

So as those of you who have been following me on Facebook already know, I am planning to make my official return to jewelry after finals week. My one and only day of finals is 12/15 so you will definitely be hearing more from me after that! I’ve been itching to start on new things because I have so many ideas! I was so eager to get back to work on my jewelry project that I already ordered some more materials. They just arrived today and as soon as I got home from school I snatched them up and got to work LOL. Ahh~ It relieved a lot of pent-up stress I’ve been having lately. I made a quick necklace with one of the pendants (described more below) and cell phone charm that I will probably give to my mom because my dumb BlackBerry does not have any holes to allow chain attachment.

I know you guys love pictures, so I took some pics of the stuff I made today! :)

***I am NOT selling cell phone charms (or any jewelry or accessories) at the moment!*** The cell phone charm I made is very simple, easily put together. I just worked with what I have in stock at the moment. I’m planning to make more elaborate ones in the future… I have lots of ideas for cute styles. :D If you’re interested in cell phone charms let me know so I have an idea of how in demand they are… the higher the demand the more time I will put into making these look really creative!

***I am NOT selling necklaces (or any jewelry or accessories) at the moment!*** OMG! I am in LOVE with this Swarovski pendant!!! It’s perfect for the winter season plus it looks so beautiful in the crystal AB color. This snowflake pendant is a bit heavier than the heart and flower pendants but not as heavy as the seashell. I like it though because it’s big and heavy enough to hold the necklace chain down so it doesn’t flop so much when walking or running, unlike the more lightweight pendants. Again, let me know if you are interested in this pendant.

Other things that I am going to work on are earrings and bracelets. I will not mention what kinds though, they are surprises! :P I have all my materials but I just need to buy a round-nose pliers because this time I will be working with headpins. I am sure I just confused a bunch of you so here are some pictures of what I’m talking about… the round-nose pliers are used to make loops on things like headpins, which thread through beads, to make them attachable to chains, earrings, etc.

Anyone want to get me round-nose pliers before the 15th? ;) Hehe I have small hands so I’m looking for a small pair, like travel size… I think I remember seeing one at Michael’s when I bought my flat-nose pliers, they were small and had purple handles, so I’ll try going back there again when I have time. But until then, no earrings or bracelets…

Well that’s all the updates I have on my jewelry project so far! I’m not sure if this post is long enough to satisfy those of you who have really been missing me… hahaha! So if you’ve been wondering how I am and what I’ve been up to… keep reading! :P

I tend to not do so well when the cold weather comes around so abruptly like how it is now, and especially not when the weather is bipolar. Whoever lives in California knows what I’m talking about. I’ve been doing a good job of keeping away from getting sick this semester but earlier today I felt some irritation in my throat and had nonproductive cough until now. I am pretty sure I’m coming down with a sore throat. :( I love cold weather but I hate that I get the cold and sore throat so easily!

Hmm my Thanksgiving was alright, I spent it at home with my family but my dad had to leave in the afternoon for church. Black Friday was fun, I spent the day with SL and his family at the mall. He spoiled me again! Argghh! But I am very (and always) thankful for his generosity. :D Hahaha. The stuff I did buy, I got pretty good deals on. I helped my parents purchase a new TV which we picked up tonight after my classes and installed ourselves. It’s a pretty sweet TV, I’m very pleased with it, and my parents seem really happy about it too. Yay, we finally have a TV downstairs again! (Long story… hehe) Our “cave” finally upgraded to “hut”! >__< LOL

School-wise I’m doing alright. This semester is medical-surgical and mental health. It’s a pretty tough sem so I’m just trying to get by, but there’s been some pretty interesting stuff that happened. I’m too lazy to type out all my stories lol so if you want to know just ask me in person. I just had med-surg clinical yesterday and lecture and exam today so I’m pretty exhausted right now. But I’ll blog a little about yesterday ’cause there was one part that really affected me. I spent the first half of the day in the endoscopy center, which is located 3 or 4 blocks away from the main hospital, and had to walk there from the main hospital in the freezing cold morning weather. I think that’s what got me sick. Anyways, I got to start 5 or 6 IV’s and watched a colonoscopy and EDG. It was a good experience overall especially practicing starting IV’s. After lunch at the main hospital my instructor sent me to the “step-down” unit which is like a lesser area of critical care. I started another IV there lol. The thing that I mentioned earlier that impacted me took place here in step down, where I was able to interact with my first cancer patient. I’ve had elderly patients on the med-surg floor who had cancer, even multiple incidences of cancer, but they were already exacerbated. This particular patient affected me because he was really young (only 27 I think) and already had stage IV skin cancer. He will be transferred to USC because I think they couldn’t do more for him at our hospital or he would benefit more from treatment there. It’s really sad knowing there is a good likelihood that he will die young… it reminded me that life is so precious. I hope all of you remember that too!

I don’t want to think about school anymore haha it’s sooooo stressful. But I guess I can’t compare it to work, especially when I listen to SL’s stories about work… it’s tough to be a nurse! Tougher than all of you who aren’t in the medical field think! But I believe we will get through this if we have the will and we have the way… aaaaand I do believe we have both! Hehe

Speaking of which, there is a special day coming up in about 5 days… hehehe I don’t wanna give out details for now but I’ll blog about it after that day if all goes well. n__n

Ok I believe this post is long enough now. LOL. More to come in the next couple of weeks~ Take care y’all, get your flu shot and take some vitamin C so you won’t end up like me!

HI I’m SL aka Shanebutt!

Hello to all Jenny’s Jewelry’s friends and fans! Jenny is too busy right now to update her blog so she asked her every reliable Shanebutt to revitalize her blog. kekeke… At this moment, I’m lecturing and pushing Jenny to study her med-surg notes and start on her careplan. hehe.. Yes I’m that strict on her when it comes to studying…

It’s so weird not going to school in September anymore. It seems as though my world and Jenny’s world have switched places… She’s now the one who’s staying up late to study and finish careplans. Poor her! Last night she slept at 1 am and then she had to wake up at 5 am for a 12 hr clinical… Her school is brutal; more brutal than my school when I was still in the program.

All I can do for her is support her through these stressful times, and more… I think. I am very positive that she’s gonna be fine. My Jenny is smart, she has the support of her family and friends and most of all she has God on her side. yup!

About making Jewelries… I think Jenny is having a little hiatus because of school. But you can still purchase the existing designs posted on this website. I think… hahaha… I need to verify that. But I’m pretty sure she’s gonna be happy when a customer contacts her!

By the way, I have not introduced myself yet. Jenny might have mentioned “SL” or “Shanebutt” in her blog. That person is me! I am Jenny’s favorite pet… that’s all you need to know about me! keke

Hehe.. I’m bad at blogging and writing in general thats why I don’t have a blog myself. I’m actually doing this because she told me that If I post a blog for her, she would do her careplan. I hope I didn’t ruin her ‘beautiful’ blog… haha!

Alright guys and gals, its nice meeting all of you and please support JennysJewelry! Come back soon and buy one soon! ^____^

BRACELETS!!! New: Moonlight Hearts, Flower Field

Good evening everyone! I wanted to blog a little earlier while the sun was up, but my laptop kept overheating! :| I have good news that I want to share with all of you right away… I was so excited!… I successfully made my very first handmade bracelets!!!

IMG00506-20090827-1921IMG00510-20090827-1939

Sorry for the horrible image quality. :? I really wish I had a nice camera! Anyways… Aren’t these the cutest?! Haha I am a sucker for hearts and flowers. I found the most adorable chain with links shaped like hearts and I just had to make something of it! I’m very very very pleased with how these two turned out. Besides being super cute, they are also versatile (can be worn as bracelets, anklets, or as bag chains). Making bracelets has taught me a lot in the art of jewelry… I will definitely be making more bracelets, they are more fun than necklaces! hahaha :)

Now that I got over my excitement over the bracelets, I can talk about other new stuff, hehehe. I got such a big haul in the mail today! Look~

IMG00499-20090827-1814IMG00500-20090827-1814

So many sparkly stuffs… yay! Included in this week’s haul are custom orders for a few people. I just want to share two special necklaces ordered by JR which came out looking stunning! JR is such a sweetie, she ordered these necklaces for her mother. She ended up choosing the 28mm golden shadow seashell pendant (as featured in my Beach Necklace) and the 28mm crystal AB pear pendant on 18″ sterling silver venetian box chains. Lovely choices for her mom!

IMG00515-20090827-1943

The one on the left is the pear and the one on the right is the seashell. Yes I know, the pear pendant is a new thing for Jenny’s Jewelry. It is just one example of the many different Swarovski crystal pendants that you can choose from. If you want to learn more about the various pendant shapes and colors, this is a very good website to check out: http://www.brightlingsbeads.com/swarovski-crystal-pendants.html (note: this is NOT where I go to buy my jewelry materials! hehe) Remember to ask me about ordering custom jewelry; I am very open and willing to work with you to create your jewelries!

I am now selling off my pilot collection of bracelets: the Moonlight Hearts and Flower Field bracelets! These are one-of-a-kind bracelets made of dainty heart-shaped link chains that are lightweight. If you want to purchase one of these bracelets, please note that I need your WRIST SIZE in inches or your preferred BRACELET SIZE if you already know it. I need this because I cut the chains by hand… I don’t have any pre-made bracelet chains because, well, not everyone has the same wrist size! :P So please remember to include your WRIST SIZE in the “Chain Length” part of the order form!!! Thanks!

Back to School

Today was my first day of clinical this semester. Eeek! It went by pretty good though! But since I’m back to school, that means less time to make new jewelries. :( I don’t want to go on hiatus because making jewelry hardly takes up a lot of my time, it’s just the coming-up-with-new-ideas part and ordering-the-materials part that eats up the time I should be using for studying… hehe. I will continue making jewelry as well as doing occasional custom orders, but my pace will probably be very slow… I will still update as much as I can but they may not always be related to new jewelry designs. Grrrr I am super busy now! I’m ready to tackle this semester but I really wish I had more free time. Nevertheless, I will try my best to get all orders done a.s.a.p.!

Actually, I have JUST purchased materials to make a few bracelets. Yay, bracelets!!! Finally! They should be up for sale this or next week.

Some people, especially those who are new to my site, have informed me that it’s a bit difficult to navigate through my blog posts to know exactly what I’m selling at the moment. I realize that digging through so many posts can become confusing, so I am considering re-arranging or re-vamping my blog… maybe adding a page with all of the jewelry I’m selling along with their prices and options… or possibly moving everything over to a website. I really need ideas on this. So please let me know what you think I should do, or if you know of any good domains that I can use (preferrably for free)!

Just a random fact: Many of you might not know this, especially if you haven’t talked with me in person… but I also make custom jewelry. As in you create the design and I make it for you! Just let me know what you would like and I’ll tell you if I’m able to make it or not. Prices vary depending on the cost of materials and complexity of the design, but I will be able to give you an estimate if needed.

If you have any questions about anything, ask! I may be busy, but not busy enough to neglect my jewelry project.

New Ideas

Hi everyone~

Lately I haven’t had the time to make new jewelries… sad! But I’m ordering some Swarovski pearls and more pendants to play around with. I’m also going to try bracelets now! So I should have cool new stuff for sale sometime next week. :)

I’ve been getting a lot of feedback from the, um, population of maturer and wiser ladies (mainly my mom). They made me realize that practically all of my jewelry designs are targeted toward girls of my own age group. I’ve gotten requests from the ladies for jewelry that might become them in a way that won’t look so juvenile… I’ve been researching various styles through photos and magazines so I think I can give it a try!

The limited edition Beach Necklace, Luv Luv Star Necklace, and Heart Duo Necklace in crystal and light rose are still for sale! Scroll down a few posts to see them.

I wore my own Luv Luv Star necklace to my hangout with SL yesterday. It’s one of my favorites; I love the color combination and the cuteness of it! Plus it looks good with almost any outfit I own! As we walked past the huge crowd of people flocking to The Boiling Crab in Garden Grove, which was packed to overflowing as usual, I felt some stares directed to my chest area… I don’t have a huge chest so it couldn’t be that… so either I had a big orange smudge of the whole sha-bang sauce on my shirt or they really were attracted to my necklace! (I did a critical search for any sauce smudges on myself later and found none. Woohoo!) SL and I joked that I should have brought my business cards and started handing them out. That place would be really good for advertising… I didn’t see anyone who was wearing Swarovskis, so maybe that’s what got their attention! I really need to do more advertising and get people to look at my stuff… If you know of any way that can help me with advertising, let me know!

IMG00447-20090818-1718IMG00454-20090819-0018IMG00455-20090819-0020

So there’s me at The Boiling Crab… hahaha I was so excited to finally eat there! And the last two photos were taken at the end of the day so please excuse my scary tired face and the poor lighting… This is the Luv Luv Star Necklace I wore the whole day. Mine is a little different from the one I’m selling… it’s on a 16″ white gold snake chain. ‘Cause now you know that I love the 16″! ;)

ES-Sense Photoshoot II

Urgh, I’m still groggy from last night… we were at LAX until 1:30ish in the morning to see kuya Tom off. I’m gonna miss kuya Tom, I already got used to seeing him around. But he agreed to help me come up with a nice logo for Jenny’s Jewelry… he’s REALLY good at graphic design and Photoshop… yay!

Here are more photos from the ES-Sense photoshoot~ I’m only posting the jewelries ’cause I’m too shy to post the other ones of me, hehe.

ES-Sense Photoshoot

Good morning! I’m too tired to blog much right now but I just HAD to because Ate Joan sent me the pictures from our little photoshoot! :o I’m so happy and pleased with how they turned out. Here are some examples of her wonderful photography (I haven’t recieved all of them yet). Didn’t she do such a great job? I’ll blog more about this later… maybe even post more pics too… time to hit the sheets.

Changes & Thanks

Nothing new for sale today, but I felt like making some changes to Jenny’s Jewelry. Sorry for all the changes and confusion every now and then which you should know happens quite a lot when I start a new project. Everything is for the better though… I think!

First of all, I am removing the chain type chart. I don’t have any use for it anymore… the only chains I use anyway are the ones shown in the pictures of each piece unless stated otherwise. If you haven’t noticed by now, my favorite chain to use is the Venetian Box Chain, so that should drop a big hint. But I’ll be experimenting with more chains including Vintaj brass which give necklaces that vintage look, as the name of the brand implies.

Secondly, I am switching my “default” chain length to 18″ because it seems to be the more popular length. 16″ is my personal favorite, but apparently it doesn’t appeal to a lot of people because of it’s shortness… they prefer the “princess” length to the “choker” length. So while I am keeping the 16″ chain available at all times, I will just be using the 18″ chains more in my work starting now. I have also decided that I will make choosing between 16″ and 18″ chain lengths free — as in no more having to pay $1.00 more for the 18″ chain — BUT after choosing your necklace length when ordering you are not allowed to exchange chains anymore. This saves me a lot of trouble like running too low or having too much of a certain type of chain.

So that’s all the changes for now… basically, the chain type chart will be removed, the 18″ necklace chain length will be used more frequently, and everyone can now choose freely between 16″ and 18″ chain lengths at no extra cost but no exchanges can be made.

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤

I’m still working on those business cards I said I would make. It’s only taking a while because I’m trying to come up with a nice, permanent logo. I recently was able to get Photoshop back on my laptop thanks to Kuya RB which will be such a big help, but I won’t have much time to play around with it because school is starting soon. SL said he has some ideas for logos so this gave me an idea… I’m going to hold a contest soon! Details will be given when I make the official announcement. Get your art supplies ready, people! ;)

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤

While I am patiently waiting for my mom to finish watching her Korean drama series so I can get back to playing FFXII (yes, I am a video gamer!), I want to take the time to thank my friend Joan from ES-Sense. She is a kind-hearted individual who took an avid interest in my project (surprisingly) and suggested to me last week that we have a photoshoot for Jenny’s Jewelry. So like I mentioned in my previous post, we did the shoot last Sunday. It was fun, though a little awkard for me at first… Ate Joan is a great person and easy to talk to, but that was my first photoshoot in a loooong time. She told me I’m photogenic so I guess I did ok, hehe! Until now I am amazed at her photography skills… I admire anyone who’s in the professional photography business… and the few shots from our photoshoot that I was able to see on her camera looked so awesome! I can’t wait to see the rest!

Thank you so much Ate for letting me and my jewelry be your subjects for a day! Jenny’s Jewelry will definitely benefit in many ways from the wonderful pictures you took. :D

See more of Joan’s work at www.es-sense.com.
